Assam

Assam Tea is the story of a landscape, a climate, and a people whose work turned a wild jungle leaf into one of the world’s most distinctive beverages.

Grown along the lush floodplains of the Brahmaputra River, Assam tea thrives in a region of intense humidity, rich alluvial soil, and year‑round rainfall. These conditions create the signature character of Assam tea: a bold, malty, full‑bodied liquor with a deep amber color. It is the backbone of many breakfast blends worldwide—English Breakfast, Irish Breakfast—because it delivers strength, warmth, and a satisfying finish. The industry itself began in the early 19th century, when the native Camellia sinensis var. assamica plant was discovered growing wild in the forests. What followed was a transformation of Assam’s landscape into vast tea estates, each with its own microclimate and flavor profile. Over generations, tea cultivation became woven into the cultural and economic fabric of the region. Today, Assam tea remains a symbol of the Northeast—resilient, aromatic, and unmistakably powerful—carrying with it the heritage of the land and the

communities who nurture every leaf.

Assam Tea is widely exported and are valued for Assam's characteristic malty, brisk, full-bodied flavour profile, making them popular in specialty tea, premium retail, and international auction markets.
